What are the documents required to complete the car rental contract?
  • For Thai people, a valid Thai identity card, a valid driving license and a valid credit card (Visa or Master) are required.

  • For foreigners, a valid passport, a valid international or local driving license and a valid credit card (Visa or Master) are required. Renter needs to present the real copy of all documents to our representative. When we finish the verification, all documents will be returned to the renter.
In the case that renter do not have a credit card, will the renter be able to rent a car?
  • If the renter do not have a valid credit card or the card cannot be verified, we reserve the right not to allow the renter to rent a car or if the renter has a guarantor who has a valid credit card which can be verified at the amount required, the renter can rent a car.
In the case that renter cannot present a valid driving license at the moment of doing       the contract, will the renter be able to rent a car?

       The answers can be divided into two types which are as below:
  1. The renter has a valid driving license but cannot present it at the period of doing the contract; the renter is able to rent a car. However, we have to state in the contract that the renter does not present the license. All expenses caused by the police will be the renter's responsibility. In the case of any accident, the renter has to present the license to the insurance company otherwise the renter has to be responsible for all damages and costs. There will be no insurance coverage if the renter fails to present the license.


  2. The renter who is holding an expired driving license that is now in the process of renewing is able to rent a car with a full insurance coverage.
What is credit card pre-authorization?
  • A credit card pre-authorization is one of the important documents of completing the rental contract. The amount of 10,000 to 40,000 THB depending on the types of vehicles will be verified on the renter's credit card during the rental period as a rental guarantee. After the renter return the vehicle back in the same condition, we will make a cancellation.
How does the cancellation system work? How long does it take to receive the verified       amount back onto the credit card?
  • The credit card cancellation will be made daily by fax to the bank that we are in contact with. The bank will contact for cancellation with the renter's bank the next day. It may takes approximately 7-20 days for foreign banks and 3-7 days for Thai banks in order to receive the verified amount back.
What should I do when the car breaks down?
  • We have 24 hrs. mechanic service in any case of car breaking down, the renter has to contact us at the first priority. We will advise what the renter should or should not do in order to avoid any unpleasant situation. If the car is in Chiang Mai city, we will send out our mechanic to check and repair, but if the car is out of the city or is in other provinces, the renter needs to contact us for advise and bring the car to the nearest garage for check up. If the car needs to be replaced, we will have our mechanic go to help with a new car for replacement.
What should I do in case of having an accident?
  • The renter needs to contact us immediately. The contact number can be found on the key ring and on the contract. The renter needs to identify himself by name and vehicle number which is located in the key ring. During working time (7.00 a.m. – 10.00 p. m.), please contact 053-208787, 053-206487, 053-271579, and 053-272416. After working period (10.00 p.m. onwards), please contact 081-6812192 or 081-8819380. We will report the situation to the insurance company and they will send out their representatives to help the renter.
What are the renter's responsibilities in the case of any accident?
  • If the renter is identified by a police that the renter is right (the accident happened is not caused by the renter's action), the renter is free from any responsibility. On the contrary, if the renter is identified that the renter is fault (the accident happened is caused by the renter's action), the renter needs to pay the deductible at the maximum of 5,000 THB according to the rental contract.
What are the coverage of first class insurance?
  • Every of our vehicle is first class insured with Wiriya Insurance Company with the maximum insurance coverage of 10 millions THB which covers vehicle damages, driver, passenger and third party injury. However, the first class insurance will not cover the damage happened to the car tires, car wheels, alloy wheels and the vehicle keys. The renter needs to pay at the actual cost.
Vehicle Maintanence

      Heating up vehicle
  1. Stop the car. Wait till it cools down about 45-60 minutes.

  2. When the engine cools down, slowly fill clean water into the engine boiler. Do not fill water in when the engine is still hot, it will cause cylinder buckling.

  3. After filling water, drive the car at normal speed and try to keep the speed stable with high gear. Do not drive slowly with low gear. That will heat up the engine again. Turn off the air-conditioned system if necessary.
      Flat tire vehicle The renter needs to exchange the tired with the spare tire immediately. If the renter continues driving, it will cause more damage with the tire.
Time and place of picking up and drop off the vehicle
  • We are offering free pick up and drop off vehicle in Chiang Mai city area to our customers for their convenience. E.g. Hotels, Airport, Train Station and Bus Station. For other places outside the city, different rates applied for pick up and drop off. Please contact us for more information.

  • The time for pick up and drop off the vehicle is from 8.00 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. If the renter needs to pick up or drop off the vehicle apart from our working time, the renter has to inform us prior the drop off time. We charge service fee at 100 THB per hour. More than 15 minutes is charged as one hours.
How does the car with driver work out?
  • We are offering car with driver which works from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (10 working hours). Apart from this working time, we charge over time 100 THB per hour excluding the gasoline. Accommodation for the driver is charged extra in case that the driver needs to stay overnight.
Reservation channels
  • Customers can make a reservation by a phone call, e-mail or via our reservation system online.
    Customers can reserve a car by phone from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. daily at 053-208787, 053-206487, 053-271579.
    Customers can make a reservation online 24 hours via e-mail to rentacar@journeycnx.com and chiangmaitrip@journeycnx.com and our reservation system on our web site. Reservation needs to be made at least one day prior and must be confirmed by mail confirmation from our reservation department.
Extra Option: GPS and Baby Seat for rent
  • We are offering GPS and baby seat service for rent with prior reservation.
    GPS is charged at 200 THB per day.
    Baby seat is charged at 50 THB per day.
Automatic Transmission Driving Techniques for Traveling on Mountain
  • Going up the hills:

    Use gear D is the best for going up the hills as the proper gear is controled by the automatic transmission system. The system will select the best gear automaticaly. If the mountain is high such as Inthaon Naturnal Park, turing off the air-conditioned system can help increase the power of the vehicle.

  • Driving down from the hills:

    Use low gear as it will help slow down the engine. The driver should not press on the break too long not more than five second because it will heat up the break system. Do not use neutral gear (N) down the hills. There will be no engine to control the speed and it can damage the automatic transmission system.
